A story of showing up for each other - starring Daniel
Yesterday after a busy day, I asked Daniel when I came to bed:”I notice that I am starting to feel stressed and that the pull of some destructive behaviors gets stronger. If you notice me falling into them, no matter what excuse I give, please make me aware to stop them.”
I felt proud that I articulated it and that I asked for help.
Daniel just looked at me lovingly and said: “But you don’t need me to do this. You have changed. You are connected to yourself enough that you will stop this on your own now.”
Needless to say I sat in tears by the time he had finished the sentence.
My intuition to ask for help was right. asking for help is always right. Although help looked different than I had anticipated, it gave me what I needed: a perspective to see myself.
Ask for help when you need it. And when asked for help: skip the solutions and help people to see themselves through your eyes instead. Both are two of the biggest acts of love that I know
